Potholes in our roads as a cause of vertebral fracture
V Mutiso, Orarish; Nairobi – Kenya

Abstract: The bad roads in East Africa are one factor in the high injury rates of road traffic accidents and injuries including vertebral fractures.

However the situation is actually worse in that a number of injuries are sustained on our roads even without having a road traffic accident.

A number of vertebral fractures sustained when vehicles the individuals were travelling in hit a bump in the road are presented.

When investigating individuals who present with back pain following travel by road, keep in mind a vertebral fracture.
